About & Methodology

What We Do

BEACON analyzes your lab results against longevity-optimized reference ranges, not just standard lab ranges. Standard ranges are based on population averages, which include many unhealthy individuals. Our optimal ranges reflect what leading longevity physicians consider ideal for healthspan and disease prevention.

Standard vs Optimal Ranges

Standard Range

Based on 95th percentile of a lab's patient population. A "normal" result means you fall within the average. As Dr. Mark Hyman notes: if 75% of a population is overweight, "normal" reflects that, not what is actually optimal.

Optimal Range

Evidence-based targets from longevity research and clinical practice. Associated with reduced disease risk, better metabolic health, and improved quality of life. These ranges aim for peak well-being, not just absence of disease.

Example: Standard fasting glucose is 70 to 100 mg/dL. A result of 98 is "normal" but associated with increased diabetes risk. Optimal is 72 to 85 mg/dL.

Protocol Generation

Our AI analyzes your biomarkers considering:

  • Your health profile (age, sex, goals, conditions)
  • Current medications and supplements (to avoid duplicates)
  • Relationships between biomarkers (e.g., insulin and glucose together)
  • Evidence-based interventions prioritized by impact
